Place your index finger on the top of a Winglet and your palm on the table in order to stabilize the Winglet.
Apply a thin layer of craft glue to the outside of the Winglet.
Starting at the bottom fold up and press the tissue against the winglet. (Continuing to hold in place with index finger and palm to table).
Clip off top of Winglet if there is lots of extra tissue there. We will trim this more precicely later when the glue is more dry.
Step 14: Haircut
We can now trim excess tissue from the airplane. The winglets can be cut as triangles or semicircles. Same goes for the fin and horizontal stabilizer.
Tip: After this step is complete it is a good idea to apply decorations and personalization. I usually encourage people to write their name or messages on their model. This gives the extra time for glue to dry as well. In a group or workshop environment, it’s a good time to do winding and flying demonstrations with a finished model. Please see the “tips section” for ideas on how to personalize or decorate your Squirrel.
Step 15: Tie Elastic Motor and Attach to Propeller
Use the 20″ rubber strip to make a 10″ loop by tying a square knot (reef knot).
Pull all four strands to pull the knot tight.
This is not an ordinary elastic band! This is special rubber which is more pure than found in business stores. It’s 1/8″ width.
