I’m making some certificates up and am looking for ideas. This first batch will go to India for Dinkar (school teacher).
I think it’s a great idea in general so will provide them when requested.
I gave a presentation last Wednesday at the Inventors Association.
I covered a bit about the Squirrel, how it evolved and the fun of making in general.
The inventors community at large (and specifically the Inventors Association of Ottawa) are very much into secrecy and “protection” of ideas. It’s clear to me that this will make it nearly impossible to succeed.
So I emphasized the notion of sharing instead. I gave a few examples of how sharing helped with the Squirrel project. Also how it is working for newer projects such as Dayton and my Drawing Robots projects.
There has been a lot of hype about 3D printers in media over the past while. Of course the Squirrel Project has a couple of 3D printers so was invited to the Ottawa 3D Print-A-Thon. The event was very successful. I presented the idea of using 3D printers to perfect the propellers. Of course many fans of the Squirrel Project showed up and a couple of keen kids made a couple planes. I cooked up a Dayton myself.
I sent some materials out to Jay in Australia and this is what came forward. Very nice pictures! This looks like one of Slater Harrison’s designs.
I have been talking with Adam Fraser Davidson about adding some of his artwork to planes. I think the Dayton is a great candidate since it’s based on bond paper.
I’ll report back this week!
