Model airplane workshop with Leadership Ottawa at Aviation Museum

Leadership Ottawa is an organization that broadens individual leadership skills and helps build vibrant and healthy communities. It is focused on the well being of communities and individuals.

I had the pleasure of sharing model aviation with them at their Exploration BBQ. We had about 35 people and we built about 20 aircraft!

They are having another BBQ soon so I hope I a few people bring their planes make more photo and video submissions!

John Cooper takes a look at the Squirrel

John is a model airplane expert from the Ottawa Community.

We had a chance to do a few flights and consider the various design choices. Its great to get review of the design from such an experienced modeller.

John has experience with kids so I value his opinions very highly! He does volunteer work for Cubs.

John’s Web site is on scale modeling and is atΒ scaleflight.net. He has quite an array of amazing models!

Here’s one of several flights I did. It hit the ceiling and then went into the stands. John climbed up the wall to get to the rafters. Thanks John!

Model Airplane Transport System

Here’s my Yamaha Scooter that I used to zip around with my model airplanes. I really liked this scooter. It has been replaced by a motorcycle. In retrospect I like the scooter more. I have been eyeballing electric bicycles. I think that would be a great way to zip around.

Here I’m at a park in Rockliffe Park where I know kids in the neighborhood since I used to fly at this park back when I was married.

Note the bankers’ box which is attached by a bungee cord.

This was a great solution till someone stole itΒ (the bike that is). πŸ™ It was recovered by the police but they didn’t get around to telling me (depsite telephoning once per day), till the storage bill was more than the bike’s value. The police did more damage than the thief.
